Wishlist Member and WordPress 3.1.1

Today Automattic, the company who creates WordPress, released an important patch to WordPress 3.1. Version 3.1.1 of WordPress fixes 26 reported problems/bugs, including an important security flaw with the media uploader.

Having previously advised our clients to avoid upgrading to WordPress 3.1 because of the poor track record WordPress has with quality control (the previous major release of WordPress, version 3.0 contained 55 bugs that caused havoc with many websites and their owners, we now recommend to our clients to upgrade to WordPress version 3.1.1 to take advantage of the many improvements.

We are especially excited to see the long awaited completion to the Custom Content Type implementation (also known as Custom Post Types – although this is a serious mis-use of terms). If you want to see exactly what has changed – in this case “been fixed”, just click on through to this summary about WordPress 3.1.1 : http://codex.wordpress.org/Version_3.1.1

As always, be sure to make a full backup before you do the upgrade – we can’t tell you have many times this has saved our clients!
